What is DC Motor?

A DC motor is a device that converts Electrical energy into Mechanical Energy.

Motors work on the principle of ‘Electromagnetism’, that is it uses a magnet to rotate. When electric current is applied to a motor, a “Magnetic field” is produced. This magnetic field interacts with the motor’s magnetic field and creates rotational motion! Motors are polar devices. By applying voltage in one direction it rotates clockwise while in the other direction it will rotate in anti-clockwise direction.

Motors have a wide range of applications in home appliances, Industries, Automobiles etc.

We will use a Gear motor with the DC motor to help increase the speed of the motor using different gear combinations.
