What is IR Sensor Block?

IR Sensor block is used to detect the presence of an obstacle in front of it. IR stands for Infrared light, which is visible to the human eye. It has two LEDs on it, one is the transmitter and other is the receiver (also known as a Photodiode). The sensor is ON when an obstacle is detected. Obstacles that you want to detect in your project could be near or far.

The IR sensor block has a Potentiometer on it, Which can be used to set the range at which the object is to be detected. This range can be set by turning the knob in clockwise or anti-clockwise direction.

IR sensors are used in various applications like alarm systems, Robots, Automatic Guided Vehicles, etc.Â
