What is Potentiometer?

Potentiometer is the most commonly used variable resistor. We can change the resistance of the potentiometer by rotating the knob in a clockwise and anticlockwise direction. You can see a potentiometer in devices like fan regulators, Mixer grinders, Radio, etc. The potentiometer can also be used to change the intensity of the lights.

A potentiometer is a three-terminal resistor with a sliding or rotating contact that forms an adjustable voltage divider. Two of the terminals are connected to the opposite ends of a resistive element, and the third terminal connects to a sliding contact, called a wiper, moving over the resistive element.
